Here we are doing drills that involve doing 90 degree turns and touching hands with the person opposite. It sounds simple, but it's quite difficult. The whole point is NOT to grab, to stretch out, or hang on tightly once you have made the turn and are reaching out to the person opposite, but just to fly with good stability and remain on the same level, nice and close, and always keeping an eye on each other.
All too often, once two people have taken a grip on each other, they hold on for dear life and rely on the fact that they are holding on to stay in place - which is not very good discipline. One should be able to fly in the right position WITHOUT having to hold on!
Of course this takes loads and loads of practise! We only managed to do about 4 turns on this one!
do you still do formation jumps now? every time i have watched them including while jumping - not participating - it reminds me of a graceful ballet, sort of like watching 2 fighters in the sky playing a game of 'tag' like they do in training - very cool pick.
I do FS now and then - we did the Bodyflight World Challenge (tunnel championships) in April in A category but haven't carried on in the sky this year as some of the team just didn't have the cash. I do FS coaching and most of my jumps are bigway or coaching A certs.
nice we need to get you out here for one of big jump meets by the sounds of things - you would fit right in.. s ps on a 'grimmer' note did they ever work out what happened with that jumper that was killed a few years ago ? last i heard they accused his partner i think it was of murdering them. horrible way to go..
OK, I'm Jonesin to jump now thank you! I've only made a handful of jumps since having my last kid. Every year I say "This is the year I get back in the sky!" and then something happens & I put it off. Love the shot. Blue Skies!!
thanks! Hope you do get back in the sky, i don't have kids but i understand that life must have changed big time and jumping's not as easy as it was before? blue skies!
