Had a great pre-Xmas week so far. Saturday was busy, with last minute shopping (didn't get any wrapping done!) then drove up to see ~freakette that evening.
Up early for some jumping at Langar on Sunday! Cue gorgeous skies, crisp still air and patchy fog that subsided just for us over the airfield, and you've got the ingrediants for a great day's skydiving.
Fun 2-way jump with Zvi on the first lift with a truely stunning view in the a/c. We could really see how thick albiet low the fog was - to the west it was a like a blanket over the countryside. You could see the tops of cooling towers and pylons through the mist. It looked as though we were at 10,000ft not 1000ft!
Unfortuntely as we were packing for the next jump, my pilot chute kill line decided to snap. Great... I thought. Am I going to get in another jump today? Will this even be fixed for Spain?!
Lucky one of the riggers said it would be a simple job and he'd do it after the next jump. This was when Zvi decided to steal him - for his FS1 qualifier! "You'd better get this", I thought. Congrats to him, he got it!
Pilot chute fixed and rig packed, we manifested for the sunset load, Zvi, Ally "room for a small one?" and moi. It wasn't until 6000ft that Ally (who was jumpmaster and therefore right at the back of theplane) actually asked what we were doing! ... Above the noise of the engines...
Ally: So.. what are we doing?
Me: Speed star!
Ally: Cool! Can I go out last?
Me: Ok - so it's Harry, then me, then you.
And that was pretty much our dirtdive for the jump.
Fun fun jump involving backloops-to-pin, a bit of backflying, orbiting, the actual star, me being followed in track and getting an awesome video of my deployment and of Zvi under canopy (what was that running action you were doing by the way?! lol) and a gorgeous canopy sunset ride down! Not to mention a declared accuracy landing - 3 more to go for CH2. A great way to end the day.
Spent a few hours in the bar finishing off a bottle of wine and a few beers - beer fine for the FS1! Hehe.
Zvi drove back, we had supper and then crashed out in front of a movie on the sofa. Got up at about 11.30, nicely wasting half of Christmas Eve, then jumped in the car and drove back home. Family and friends over for Christmas eve, and now it's just sitting around before I go to bed and wait for Santa.

that "running thing" was because Ally waggled his legs to make sure i knew he was watching me (on vid) so i waggled them back. sometimes cameramen look down as they spiral a bit (hmm all round awareness, what's that?) and do a sort of running / walking motion, looks like they are walking across the earth a bit.
... im so jelous ... dont think im gona be back at the dz till jan now
... ally usually records all his jumps have you got a copy ?
merry christmas to you to - have a great day!
and hope you get in lots of jumping in january.
